Description : | The drawing knife is vaguely u-shaped. It consists of two parallel wooden handles with an eight inch cutting blade in the center with hand clearance on each side in a reverse curve. The iron tangs extend through wooden handles and bent to prevent the handles from slipping off. It was used to shave wood and to take bark off strips of wood. It was also used in the coopering trade in fitting wooden hoops to barrel and for making birch and maple hoops after the hoop poles have been split. |
