Description : Two brown iron holders that resemble a dog. Also known as Andirons. The dog irons have a bar on the back parallel to the floor supporting a long shaft that has two legs and a circular top. It was placed by a fireplace in front of a fireback. It was used to hold kettles and pots.
Commentaires : The fireback originates from an Early American tradition dating back to before the Revolutionary War. It prevented damage to a fireplace and it improved the fireplaces efficiency by absorbing the heat and reflecting it back out into the room.
