| Description : | The auger is a spiralled piece of iron which attaches to a wooden handle. The arm of the auger is spiralled towards the bottom and straight towards the handle. It meets the handle at the center, giving the apparatus a "T" shape. The auger was used to bore shaft holes and the holes required to bolt pieces of a boat together. It was also used in the lumber industry to build early log structures. The handle of the auger is missing. |
