| Description : | The artifact is the head of a broad axe. The head is single edged with a flat back and is composed of blackened iron. There is an opening for the axe handle to be inserted. This axe was used to hew sills, beams, rafters and studs when building houses and stores. The broad axe was not used in the cutting of trees. It was also used in the ship building trade, which was once a flourishing and important trade in Trinity. |
