Description : The bellows is the large leather bag that is filled and emptied of air by the pushing of a handle. When the handle is pushed down, the air inside is squeezed out through a nozzle to make the fire hotter. When the handle is released, the bellows fills with air again. The blacksmith is able to work with a controlled heat of his fire by using the bellows, slice and washer. The slice is a long handled rake that is used to spread out the coals in order to make the fire less hot and the washer is a bundle of twigs that is used to flick water on the fire to extinguish some of the coals. The Greens' used a tin can attached to a handle with holes in the bottom as their washer.
