Description : Short, squat bottle. Cylindrical body, wide and round base. The mouth is very narrow and the neck is short. There are ridges in the sides of the bottle, and words printed into the glass.
Fonctions : This artifact was used to hold ink. It was donated by Mr. Nicholls and Karen A. Kelly who found the bottle while digging in their yard in Amherst in order to lay new pipes. It is a fine example of the inkwells used in the 1800s and early 1900s. Inkwells were common in homes throughout Cumberland County during this time, as was the quill pen.
