Description : | Rectangular, oil on canvas on wood stretcher, pressed board backing, in ornate gold gilt wood frame. Painting depicts an arrangement of purple, magenta, pink & white petunias in a shallow blue bowl placed on corner of brown table; pale mauve background. Floral display approx. 54 cm (w) x 45 cm (h) fills most of canvas. Three tiered ornate wooden frame, painted gold with plaster-on-wood surround gilded gold; folate motif of interwining C and S curves. |
Fonctions : | Runciman house artifact: house built in 1817 by Rev. John Millidge. George Runciman took possession in early 1840s. In 1978 the property transferred to Heritage Canada. Sold to private owner in 2009, at which point many artifacts from the house were given to AHS by Heritage Canada. Christian Mckiel, b. 1889, d.?; attended (c.1910) Mount Allison Ladies College in Sackville, N.B., and taught there later. In 1937 the Ladies' College was absorbed into Mount Allison University and McKiel taught there in the Fine Arts program. |
