Commentaires : | This belonged to Edmond J. Canavan and donated by his second cousin, Richard Oland. Canavan served with Governor General's Foot Guards. At the time of WWII the Governor General Foot Guards (GGFG) were an armoured unit. As a member of GGFG Armored Corps Ted commanded his along with two other tanks during the war. According to the donor, it is believed that Ted and his armoured unit landed in Normandy at D-Day plus 12 days. Donor believes he was awarded the Military Cross and ended up being taken prisoner of war. |
