Form is mounted on table with 2 wooden crossbars running lengthwise along the bottom at either end. Crossed pieces of wood from centre top to opposite centre bottom cross bar for extra support. Table surface consists of 4 planks nailed together. |
Commentaires : | Made and used by fisherman, Duncan MacCallum from 1924-1978 for constructing his own lobster traps for fishing. He fished around Pictou Island for many years. The steamer tank was filled with water and heated to soften the wood so it would bend. Used for forming the curved shape of lobster traps, these pieces of wood called bows were then placed in the bow bender, which is fastened to one end of the table. |
