| Description : | Square wood box with removable lid. Lid is held in place with three pins, with a hook latch on the front of the box. A leather strap goes around the lid to secure it. Inside the box is a disk, secured on two sides by pivot screws, with a plumb weight below in the centre. On top are two folding arms. The disk shows direction and degrees, with a fleur de lis indicating north. A tag inside the box is from Shelburne Shipyards, and reads, "Capt. J.G. Bower, Jordon Bay". |
