Commentaires : | Owned by the donor's grandmother-in-law Isabella Swail in the late 1800's, when she was at least 60 years old. Isabella Swail was born 28 November, 1859 in Wentworth, she was the daughter of Ebenezer Swail, and Sarah (Morrison Swail, both of Quebec. Victorian jewellery was romantic and nationalistic. It gave attention to the pressure of European folk art. Victorian women rebelled when they saw some of the machine made jewellery being produced, and decided to make their own. |
