Description : | These are tube leggings with a pale blue section at the toe- 8 cm. Two rows of blue farther up the leg. At the top is a 4 cm band of blue crochet in an open work pattern. The leggings are hand crocheted. |
Commentaires : | Some believe that crochet evolved from traditional practices in Arabia, South America and China, but there is no decisive evidence of crochet being performed before its popularity in Europe in the 1800s. Crochet began as a less expensive form of lace, crochet was faster to make and easier to teach than traditional methods of making lace. As it evolved crochet became popular when making other items as well. There are many forms of leggings and both men and women have worn these different forms for protection and warmth, over the centuries. Dorothy Harrity was married to a man with the name of Gordon E. Harrity. They both moved here in 1980 when they were retired. |
