Description : Sword (A)- Thin presentation sword with handle elaborately decorated with gold braid ribbon and hand worked tassel of gold thread. Handle is gold, topped with a symbolic crown and gold protective hilt. Blade is decorated with etching. Scabbard (B)- Narrow Sheath for covering and carrying sword. Gold top, and gold tip at the bottom. A gold button is on the top tip to fasten onto other pieces of the uniform. The centre of the sheath is black leather. Case (C)- Black patent leather lined with kid leather. Used to hold sword and scabbard when not in use.  Holder (D)- Triangular holder of leather and wool sewn together with an opening at the bottom of the "V" shape, and a second opening 7cm up from the bottom to allow the sword to go through. Grosgrain ribbon is sewn to the bottom of the leather to go around the waist of the wearer.   
Commentaires : Uniform worn by Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, Frank T Stanfield. Stanfield was a prominent businessman in Truro and was active in the political arena. He assumed the office of the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia in 1930, and died in office in 1931. The uniform was given by the Acadia Trust Company, the Executors of the Estate of the late Frank Stanfield (Sr.) to Mrs. Lenore Bigelow due to her interest in costumes. It was placed in the temporary custody of the Nova Scotia Museum with the understanding that when a museum was opened in Truro, it would be returned. A special case was built to display the uniform, and for many years it was on exhibit in the Colchester Historeum. 
Fonctions : Part of the uniform were worn by the Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia, Honorable Frank Stanfield Sr. when fulfilling formal duties connected with the position. Worn from his appointment in 1930 until his death in office in 1931.
