| Description : | Firemens Tournament, Truro, August 24th & 25th, 1910 in front of station. Too large to scan Veterans of the Truro Fire Brigade The first Maritime Firemen's Tournament, held in Truro in 1910, featured a street parade, followed by sports events at the Truro Amateur Athletic Club. The horse drawn carriage in the foreground was "historic" in 1910. It is equipment dating from an earlier era. The light-colored horses on the extreme left are pulling up-to-date equipment involving a chemical process. Two tanks of soda and acid were mixed with water to produce a more effective way of extinguishing fires. |
