Commentaires : From the back cover: "Although there were no land battles fought on NS soil, the province played an important role in the conflict. Nova Scotia was the base for the North Atlantic fleet of Britain's navy, to blockade American seaports, and to do battle with the American navy, to blockade American seaports and to protect convoys of trade between British North America and Great Britain. It was from Halifax that an expedition of British war ships and soldiers left to capture and occupy the town of Castine and the northeastern part of Maine. Privateer vessels set forth from several Nova Scotian harbours to wage war on America's merchant fleet. The actions and heroics of the privateers left an indelible mark on the pages of Nova Scotia's history.
