| Description : | Beige silk knee length slip with a drawstring around the waist. The seams are machine stitched. There is, hand embroidered on the left side, a circle of pale blue and pink flowers and green leaves with a bow on top. There is crocheted beige lace in a scalloped design around the hem. Part of a set with a camisole and drawers. |
| Commentaires : | Evelyn died of tuberculosis before she was to be married. The items in the trousseau were never used. Evelyn's mother was a Yeaton, a Hantsport family which owned and ran the Yeaton Candy factory. This company made a variety of candy including butterscotch suckers, molasses kisses, barley toys, etc. The Yeaton home was located at the corner of William and Station St. in Hantsport. Evelyn attended Hantsport School and was described as a brilliant student by her teacher in an article in the Hants Journal. Evelyn took a business course about 1900-12. A photo of Evelyn (by Edson Graham - 1916) and also one of her grandmother, Mary J. Yeaton, are in the collection. |
