Description : | Tubular leather scarf slide tapered at one end, rounded at the top end and pointed at the bottom. The slide is fastened together by two grommets. Embossed on the front is the Boy Scouts emblem. |
Commentaires : | The scarf slide was part of a Boy Scouts uniform worn by Dr. Alan (Pete) Connelly when he grew up at 23 Linden Avenue, Wolfville. He spent two years in Cubs and seven years in Scouts and then became a Queen Scout. In 1959 aged 16, as a troop leader he was chosen to participate in the World jamboree in which thousands of boy scouts from around the world met in the Philippines, the first jamboree to be held in Asia. The uniforms were purchased at Phinney's, Kentville. Phinney was also a scout leader. Accompanying the uniforms are the manuals which explain many aspects of the scouting movement including the uniform and each badge. Also provided is a photograph copy of Dr. Connelly in his complete uniform. |
