Commentaires : This is a promotional cookbook put out by the flour company Lake of the Woods giving recipes, it says, contributed by users of its product. The company was founded in 1888 and continued until the mill burned down in 1967. This cookbook belonged to the donor's paternal grandmother, Mrs. John Winter. Her husband John Winter worked at one time for the milling company in Ontario, Lakehead Kenora. Later he worked, with his brother, the donor's uncle, for Ogilvie's Mill for many years. The donor's uncle was gassed in WW1and the donor remembers that when there was a leak of chlorine at the Mill (used to bleach the flour) his uncle was very upset at the poor conditions for the workers.
