Commentaires : | Belonged to Macha MacKay's father, Brendan Delap, 1895?-1970. His family originally came from Ireland. He came to Halifax to work on the cable ships, Lord Kelvin and Cyrus Field, stationed out of Falmouth, England, but working in Halifax. He met his wife, Cethlyn, and they married 1925, and they travelled back and forth to Ireland. They settled here because Brendan caught TB and was sent to the Sanitorium in Kentville in 1948. While he was in the San he read about highbush blue berries and he was the first person to bring them to the Province. He had an 18 acre farm in Centreville. There is a picture of him in his Royal Navy uniform in the booklet in the resource files, "Alexander-Delap Connection. |
