Description : BLACK, GRAY & RED BORDER, GRAY CENTER WITH RED MOTIF IN THE CENTER AND HALF MOTIF IN EACH CORNER.; made of dyed woolen long-johns on burlap bag base,
Fonctions : Made by Arabelle Taylor Durkee while recovering from polio and soon to be married . The design has hand drawn on the burlap by her husband, Eben Durkee. Arabelle (Belle) Taylor, lived in Chegoggin and a part of the old home is still in use. She was the daughter of Elizabeth & Harvey Taylor. The Museum has a large oval framed picture of her mother & father, her brother Howard and her husband Eben. Eben P. Durkee lived in Pembrook, and his home is still (1985) in use by his nephew, Howard Durkee and family. Eben & Arabella were married c. 1923, the rug was in contnual use in their living room until it's arrival at the Museum, Aug. 1985.
