Description : Urinalysis reagent kit, as follows A)Vinyl coated cardboard case. The case has a non removable tray inset with tabs for securing 12 glass tablet vials and one test tube. When opened, there are two side flaps and two larger front flaps that fold inward to secure the contents in place. The large flaps can be shut tightly vial a metal snap closure. Printed in gold lettering on one side of top larger flap, is a list of kit contents, and on the other side, in gold lettering as well, is "Reagent Case/ for/ Urinary Analysis/ Nelson, Baker & Co/ Detroit, Mich". The case lining, both exterior and interior, is made from black coloured vinyl material. B) Clear glass tube with cork stopper. Contains sodium sulfate, as indicated by the paper label with black print. C)Small glass vial of acid citric tablets. The vial glass is orange and has a cork stopper. D) Small glass vial of acid picric tablets. The vial glass is orange and has a cork stopper. E) Small glass vial of bismuth subnitrate tablets. The vial glass is orange and has a cork stopper. F) Small glass vial of copper sulfate tablets. The vial is glass is orange and has a cork stopper. G) Small clear glass vial of indigo carmine. H) Small glass vial of lead carbonate tablets. The vial glass is orange and has a cork stopper. I) Small glass vial of potassium ferrocyanide tablets. The vial glass is orange and has a cork stopper. J)Small glass vial of potassium mercuric iodide tablets. The vial glass is orange and has a cork stopper. K) Small vial of sodium carbonate tablets. The vial glass is orange and has a cork stopper. L)Small glass vial of sodium tungstate tablets. The vial glass is orange and has a cork stopper. M) Small glass vial. Empty of contents. N)Clear glass testing tube with one bulbous end.
Commentaires : A urinalysis is an array of tests performed on urine and one of the most common methods of medical diagnosis. Test results were seen as color changes in the clear test tube that had the mixed urine and chemical in it. The kit was made by the Edwin Horatio Nelson, the president and William S Baker, treasurer and director. The Nelson, Baker & Co of Detroit was incorporated in 1889. Dr. William Keir was the doctor in Malpeque until 1917 and then his son James practiced until 1944. They both worked out of the family home.
