Description : Large metal tube shaped battery made by Eveready. Heavy metal body is painted yellow. Grey galvanized steel top. Made in Canada.
Commentaires : This large dry cell battery would have replaced acetylene tanks and would have been used from about the 1950's onward on the larger bouy lights. Inside, many batteries connected in a series, originally 6 volt batteries then later, in the 1970's or 1980's, became the 12 volt size. It would have been used on mostly of the larger bouy lights until they became electrified. One tank should last a season but sometimes they would short out and have to be replaced. Sometimes they would come loose from the bouy and would start to spin, and would spin the wires off. Then you would have to go out to the bouy and secure or replace them. They required a "D" sized battery similar to what you would put in a household flashlight, only slightly longer in length.
