Description : | Safe; Cast iron; Door is hinged on the right. Each side / top has a paneled appearance made more evident by the contrasting colors of these panels. Door has a label centered in the top panel. "E.B. Morris/Fireproof/Boston". The safe was originally locked by using a key. The key is not in the possession of the Farmers Bank. The locking mechanism is seized and wouldn't turn if a key existed. |
Commentaires : | This is the safe purchased by Father Belcourt in 1866 for the Bank. Purchased in Boston, shipped to Charlottetown and transported from there to Rustico by a team of horses. Team reportedly driven by Moses Gallant's (Little Mosie's) father. In the bank from 1866 to 1894. Purchased by John H. Buntain. |
