Description : | Each bookend is pure white and is sculpted in soapstone. The bust of an angel sits atop a pedestal base. Circular bottom of pedestal is adorned with a lattice type design sculpted around the elevated base. The stem of pedestal has a series of vertical grooves around the entire column. The sculpted angel has curly hair and is looking at a book, sculpted and resting in her left hand. The angel's head rests on the right hand and arm. She wears a sculpted top, worn slightly off her shoulders. |
Commentaires : | These bookends are seventy to seventy-five years old (maybe more). They were among the many artistic pieces in the ART STUDIO on the third floor of St. Michael's Academy. As a student in high school, I often visited the studio where I had many a good conversation with Sister Gertrude McLauchlan, RHSJ." (As told by Sr. Rena Doucett,RHSJ, May 2010) |
