Commentaires : Heron Island was a small community located on the island of the same name, located offshore from New Mills. Population in the late 1800s was placed at about 75 people. It had its own school, post office and perhaps a store. Several houses existed until at least the 1970s, although there were no year-round residents by the 1980s and none at all after that. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, there were post offices in every community of any size. Often these were located in stores or even in homes. Further research is needed to determine the individual who handled the mail.
Fonctions : This would have been used at the post office on Heron Island.
