Commentaires : | With the development of gas warfare during World War I, it became necessary to find ways to alert troops when such an attack seemed likely. The British and Canadian armies experimented with a variety of alarms. One common one was this type of rattle, which produced a loud clacking sound when rotated. Bells, gongs and air horns in the trenches were commonly used, but there were situations in which these rattles were a better solution. hey wre lightweight,m portable and had a simple, inexpensive design. |
