Commentaires : Good penmanship--writing--was a valuable skill as neat, legible handwriting was considered a sign of a cultured person. Handwriting skills were valued as highly as education, business and commerce, or computer skills are today. Many men and women achieved fame for demonstrating high levels of expertise in decorative handwriting, while the most talented of these individuals became legendary as "master penman" of the era. handwriting was part of PNS entrance examination.
