| Description : | a metal plate 8 3/4 in. x 4 in. is screwed to the base board w/h 4 round headed screws, two arms reach up 3 1/4 in., the bottoms in "t" form are 3 in. the top of the casting is a bearing of 1/2 in. w/h an oil hall. distance between arms 3 1/2 in., and between these are two pulleys, one wooden 5 1/2 in. diam. poared to take a "w" belt, wood is ash or oak, the other is a cast pully 4 1/4 in. diameter, 1 in. wild to take a flat belt. a shaft runs through and extends beyond the end of the arm, and has a geored-screw end, this meshed into a brass cog w/h a 3 in. diameter which reduces the speed the cog is mounted on to a shft held between a "u" upright having a 1/4 in. shaft 5 in. long, one end is held on with a brass collar, distance between the upwrights of the "u" is 1 1/2 in. on the other end of the shaft protruding outside the "u" is a arm of brass w/h brass colar 7 1/2 in. long, 7/8 in. wide riveted to one end is a 3/4 in. diameter collar x 1/2 in., the other end of the arm has a 1 1/2 in. long brass ratchet arm bolted to it and swivels around against a coil spring. use unknown, but could be for winding a spring of some sort and the ratchet held it from unwinding on the part if the machine that is missing. |
