| Description : | daguerreotype of gentleman; an early picture - the process developed in 1841 was one which used the exposed plate rather than a positive of it. this is one of the early ones. the picture is in a scroll cut frame on gilt background with a red silk opposite cover. the case - made of a special composition for the purpose - has a rose panel front and back. |
