Description : | Shallow, white, "butter pat" dish with green line decoration and green Intercolonial Railway (ICR) logo in the center. |
Commentaires : | In 1858, Truro, Nova Scotia became known as "The Hub of Nova Scotia" due to the potential expansion of the newly opened railway line between Truro and Halifax. By 1872, a new railway station opened which took the place of the first small wooden structure located next to the ICR roundhouse. In 1911, this station was gutted by a fire and was replaced with a sandstone structure which served the community until its demolition in 1972. |
Fonctions : | This butter pat would have been used in the ICR dining hall, Truro. Another butter pat from this series was featured at the 27th Annual Railroad, Steamship and Transportation Artifacts show in Gaithersburg, Maryland, November 2005. |
