Fonctions : | From the estate of Nancy Marston. Nancy Marston was born in Merritt in 1919 20, daughter of Harold and Muriel Hooper, and third of five children. They were homesteaders who raised beef and dairy cattle and pheasants. Nancy attended school in Nicola and Merritt. A lifelong lover of animals, she favoured horses. She married Bob Marston in 1942, who was cattle boss on the Nicola Ranch. They purchased the Petit Creek Ranch in 1948, and although they sold it in 1959, resided in the area for some twenty years. They had no children. They were famous for their rawhide work, braiding beautiful headstalls and lines. Bob passed away in 1978, and Nancy moved back to Merritt. She grew a tremendous garden, sharing the surplus with a local hospital. She passed away on January 11, 1992. |
