Description : JACKET - A moose hide jacket from Saskatchewan. It is approx. 60 years old - perhaps North Battleford. Slight alterations have been made by the donor. This is a woman's jacket, approx. a size 12. Fronts are of one piece, back one piece and sleeves two pieces and turned back to form cuffs. The fronts - on left no front facing, on right a 'shirt front' outer facing - no buttonholes. Blue corduroy facing has been overcast (by hand) in place on the inside right front and the inside of stand up collar. Four large metal black dome fasteners are down inside right front and matching piece on outside left front. It appears the jacket was an open front design originally. There are half cup, fringed pocket on each side decorated with flower and stem designs in pink, white, blue and green. Across the top of the pocket is plastic like. Pockets are lined with a light cotton like material. The collar is stand up mandarin like design and is decorated with the same embroidery as on pockets. Just below the flower design is the same plastic like tape stitched on. From the bottom stitch line on the collar is a fringed cape like yoke also with the decorative embroidery. It extends right around in cape fashion out to shoulder tips (17cm at front) to 24cm at center back. Jacket is all machine stitched except for embroidery dome fasteners and corduroy facings. Corduroy inner armpit shields have also been hand stitched in. Jacket measurements are: sleeve 53.5cm, jacket back - 72.5 long (center), width at shoulders is ,39cm, cuffs - 11cm wide, collar - 5cm at front, cape 17cm at front (including fringe) and 24 cm at center back. Bottom edge of jacket in a 'pinked' design.; Skin
