| Description : | NAIL: Metal, rusted. The head is flat and basically rectangular in shape. The body of the nail is a four sided rectangular shape which tapers to a point. The point of the nail is flat. This nail is bent but appears to be similar to 0984.0001.0583. except the top edges are not bevelled. The nail was dug up from the original site of the NWMP Kootenay Post at Fort Steele. The dump was located approx. 100 yds north of the Officer's quarters. See 'Temporary Specimen Receipt'. From the research material available it appears this nail was purchased and not home produced. It was called a 'cut' nail as opposed to a 'steel wire' nail.
