| Description : | Component part of hanging lamp 984.22.01 to .61. Metal brass coloured. The resevoir is cylindrical in shape and convexly rounded on top. The bottom of the resevoir is indented and has a cylindrical shaft running up through the resevoir and burner. The shaft has a diameter of 3.5cm . The sides of the resevoir are not decorated but the top has a raised design of leaves and curlicues. The letters 'B & H' are located on the circumference of the curved top, as is the hole for the fuel, and a mechanism for lowering and raising the wick which consists of a brass screw horizontally mounted with cog type teeth on its end. When the screw is turned the teeth catch in the teeth of a pin which is mounted beside the screws and extends into the resevoir. In this way the wick can be raised or lowered. The burner screws onto the top of the resevoir. Its base is made of metal mesh, with 2.5mm wide circular holes and is basically cylindrical in shape except it is wider at the top than the bottom. A piece of solid metal, wider than the diameter of the mesh, sits above the mesh. It has four metal projections, each 0.5cm wide and 2.8cm high, attached to it. They extend upwards and curve outwards at the top. They are rounded at the top. These four projections hold the 'globe' 984.22.02 in place and are called the gallery. The next part of the burner is more mesh screen which is cone shaped with the top edge forming a large hole for the rest of the burning mechanism. The holes in the mesh get increasingly smaller towards the top of the cone. A cylinder sits in the hole and projects above the mesh 1.7cm. The cylinder has a mesh top on it. The top reads, 'B & H, PAT'D NOV. 20, 94, MAR. 24.96, APR. 23.95.' HANGING LAMP SCREW ON LID. Metal, brass coloured. Screws onto fuel hole in resevoir 984.22.03. The top of the screw is decorated with 11 embossed stars around its circumference and eight petalled flower in its centre.; Metal, Brass; height 0.7 cm; top diameter 2.4 cm; bottom diameter 2.4 cm |
