| Description : | One porcelain toilet set with twelve pieces. White porcelain with moulded ribbons inserted around rims of all pieces; large bows tied on sides; ribbons and bows painted turquoise. Stamped on bottom with Chinese figure and year 'K'; indicating manufacture date of 1883. Gilded rims. A - ewer; large pitcher with wide spout and large handle. Ribbon wraps around handle. Height 30cm. Top diameter 16cm. Base diameter 12cm. Circumference 64cm. B - basin; large, round bowl. Gilded ring around base. Height 16cm. Top diameter 39cm. Base diameter 23cm. C - slop pail; rounded bucket with round knobs moulded to sides; squared wicker handle secured over knobs. Height 24cm. Top diameter 27cm. Base diameter 17cm. D - tray for slop pail; round, deep bowl with wide, rounded rim; 6cm diameter hole in center bottom. Plain white with gilded line around rim. Rests on recessed rim of slop pail. Height 11cm. Diameter 27cm. E - chamber pot; round bowl with large, rounded handle on side; turquoise ribbon around handle. Height 16cm. Top diameter 23cm. Base diameter 16cm. F - soap dish; small oval dish. Height 5.5cm. Length 15cm. Width 11cm. G - trivet for soap dish, rests on bottom. Oval with 1.7cm diameter drainage hole in center; ten small perforations around large. Gilded rim. Height 1cm. Length 12cm. Width 8.5cm. H - lid for soap dish; oval dome with looped handle on center top. Ribbon trim wrapped around handle. Height 6cm. Length 17cm. Width 11cm. I - toothbrush holder; cylindrical jar with five perforations in bottom. Height 13cm. Top diameter 7cm. Base diameter 5.5cm. J - tray for toothbrush holder; oval dish on round pedestal base. Height 4cm. Length 22cm. Width 15cm. K - sponge dish; round shallow bowl. Height 7cm. Diameter 19cm. | Fonctions : | Matches toilet set 1975.1.604A-H; trim is pink instead of blue. Manufacturer's stamps on underside of pieces indicate sets were made in 1883. Probably purchased by the O'Reillys when in England in 1883. Identical set is shown in The Victorian Catalogue of Household Goods, first published in 1883, re-published in 1991.
