Description : | This photo has the employees and children of "Standard Brands" posing during their picnic at Riverside Park. Most of the women and children appear in the first two rows either sitting on chairs or on the grass. Behind them, the other rows stand on picnic tables. Behind the group are some wooden buildings. |
Fonctions : | Jim Hunter is in the third row, tenth from the left.Standard Brands Ltd. was a national company specializing in the making of maple syrup and other products. Their Guelph factory at the corner of Waterloo and Silvercreek was in operation until the late 1960's. The building was the former Sleeman Brewery. The building was torn down to build the Hanlon Expressway. |
