Description : | This photocopy has 91 men and women posing in three rows outside the Dalyte factory. While most of the figures appear in work clothes, some of the men are wearing jackets and ties. The front row is seated on two wooden planks balanced by four crates. The picture appears to have been taken on the Surrey St. side (front) of the factory. Over the doorway hangs a sign: "OFFICE OF DALYTE ELECTRIC LIMITED". |
Fonctions : | Dalyte Electric Ltd. was active throughout the 1920's on Surrey St. in the old Allan's Mill, now Heritage Park. The company manufactured electrical lights -- decorative, novelty and commercial types -- as well as electrical conduit. After being hit hard by the Depression, the factory closed in 1932. In 1927, J.G. Smith was the sec.-treas. and manager of Dalyte Electric. |
