Description : Location: Dress (.1) T#6 Veil (.2) T#41 Wedding dress and veil. Dress is cream-coloured slipper satin with lace insets on upper half front. Material is shirred at shoulders, on front side and also gathered just below shoulders on V-neckline. Front torso area has lace insets, some parts are see-through. Down middle of torso front are 14 covered buttons in same material as dress. There are no buttonholes, buttons are there for show only. Skirt of dress is gathered at waist straight across back and in upside 'V' seam in front. Skirt is quite full. Long sleeves are slightly tapered towards the wrists with a snap button at end. Shoulders are padded. Metal zipper along wearer's left side from armpit to waist. Veil is made up of decorated headband and tulle. Headband is material covered wire with cream-coloured satin and velvet fabric 'petals' attached. Elasticized string attached that would go under bride's chin. Tulle is gathered with thread and attached to headband. It would probably have reached half way down bride's back.
Fonctions : Dress was worn by Ruby Drew on Sept 15, 1945 when she married Douglas Drew at Chalmers United Church. Both Douglas Drew and Ruby Drew were born in Guelph. They had one son named John and Mr. Drew was in the Air Force for 32 Years.
