Description : | Uterine curette set, which consists of ten pieces in a case; the set contains (a) a spong holder; this consists of a length of solid cylindrical metal that is round and closed at one end; the other end is split lengthways for eight cm and has two tips that curve inwards to meet; the tips have sharp, pointed interlocking teeth (1 & 2); there is a small metal ring that slides up and down the rod and closes the tips together when pulled up to that end; the set contains two uterine sounds (b,c); the sounds both consist of a solid cylindrical piece of metal; the tips of the sounds are bulbous; the ends are flat on one side; one sound (c) has horizontal increment marks and five numbers stamped into the metal; the set contains a uterine applicator (d) which consists of a length of solid cylindrical metal that has a round end with one flat side; the tip of the applicator is twisted into a spiral; the set contains a hook (e), which consists of a length of solid cylindrical metal with a closed rounded end; the hook tapers to a sharp-pointed tip that is bent outwards at a 45 deg. angle; the set contains three rinsing uterine curettes (f-h); all of the curettes consist of a length of hollow cylindrical tubing with round open ends that have threading on their outer edges; the tips of the curettes vary: (f) has an elongated oval tip with closed edges and an open centre; the edges are flat and somewhat sharp; this curette is broken on one edge of the tip; (g) this curette has a teardrop-shaped tip with closed rounded edges and an open centre; (h) this curette has an elongated teardrop-shaped scooped tip; the scoop has a smooth, spoon-like bowl and rounded outer edges; the set contains two handles into which the instruments fit; one handle (i) is made of hollow cylindrical metal with a closed, rounded end; the tip of the handle is round and open and has a screw attachment at one side; the solid instruments (a-e) fit into the open tip and are held in securely by tightening the screw attachment; the other handle (j) is a rinsing handle and holds the curettes (f-h); it is made of hollow cylindrical metal with round, open ends; the end of this handle tapers in an out to create a bulbous end that will hold rubber tubing; the tip of the handle is round and open and has threading on its inner edges; both handles have horizontal gripping grooves stamped into their outer edges; all pieces (a-j) are stored in a leather and cloth case (k); the case is made of a flat, rectangular base piece with flaps at the top, bottom, and left and right sides; the inner base piece has 9 leather loops at the right and left sides, sewn in, to hold the instruments securely in the case; the side flaps fold inwards to cover the instruments attached to the base; the top and bottom pieces cover the side flaps and join together with two metal snaps to hold the case securely shut |
