| Description : | (a) wax model (moulage) of the third step in a vaginal hysterectomy on a prolapsed uterus pulled down through the introitus; the model is made of oil-painted beeswax with talc, built up with gauze; the model shows a woman's vagina with a prolapsed uterus being pulled down from the vaginal canal with a string through the cervix; the anterior vaginal wall has been mobilized, taking the anterior vaginal wall and the bladder with it; the model is painted to depict true colour; (b) model of a vaginal speculum made of silver metal (aluminum?) used to demonstrate the use of a speculum to hold down the perineum during a vaginal hysterectomy; the speculum model was originally attached to the wax model, but has come off |
