Description : Yankauer chrome-plated metal tonsil suction tube, consisting of (a) a hollow continuous moulded tube; proximal end flares out towards distal end, forming a handle for the instrument; the proximal end of the handle sharply narrows, curves and flares out again for rubber tubing to be attached; the handle gradually tapers towards the distal end of the instrument; towards the distal end of the handle are indentations for thumb and index finger for gripping; at the distal end of the handle are moulded rings with a space between that becomes a straw-like tube with two gentle bends, making the instrument look like a very open question mark; the distal end of the "straw" is threaded, permitting the tip (b) to be attached to the instrument; (b) suction tip, which is removable, with an opening in the distal end and four openings around the tip close to the distal end.
