Description : A Clare Jewel electric range (kitchen stove). Four burners on top, two sets to either side, with a wide (42 cm.) work area in the centre top surface. Shallow implement drawer centred below the cooking surface. Two ovens, one a warming oven (RP), inside which is a fuse panel and a maker's plate, reading (in part): CLARE JEWEL / ELECTRIC RANGE / (serial numbers) / CLARE BROS. & COMPANY LIMITED / PRESTON CANADA. Two storage drawers across the bottom front. Oven and burner dials are on a backboard. Also a switch (for the warming oven?) and an electical outlet. A backlight with toggle switch is at the top of the backboard. The backboard appears to be hinged (at the back) to the body of the stove, possibly allowing it to be removed or tilted back for cleaning. Oven is finished in white baked enamel. Cloth covered electric cord at back. Circa 1950.
