| Description : | A yellow box containing three men's starched white removable collars, all different models (Gordon, Margate and Star). The Gordon model (size 14-1/4) has stamped printing (in part) inside the collar: PAT. NOV. 21, 1918. The Margate model (size 14-1/4) has stamped printing (in part) inside the collar: Clupeco Shrunk. The Star model is size 17. All have printing: ARROW / CLUETT, PEABODY & CO. INC. All have collar stud closures (silver, around an iridescent blue stone). The collar box has a paper liner with illustrations of various Cluett, Peabody plants (St. Johns, P.Q., and in the U.S.A. at Troy, N.Y., Rochester, N.Y., Waterford, N.Y., South Norwalk, Conn., Leominster, Mass and Corinth N.Y.). The box front label reads (in part): ARROW / Cluett Peabody & Co. of Canada Limited / GREYLOCK, along with an illustration of this collar model (none of such is in the box). | Fonctions : | The Arrow Shirt Company was a division of Cluett, Peabody and Co., of Canada Ltd. The Kitchener plant was established in 1920 when Cluett, Peabody and Co., with headquarters in Troy, N.Y., bought the Williams, Green and Rome (W.G. and R.) business and built its Canadian headquarters on Benton Street. W.G. and R. had been using the Arrow trademark since 1889. The Arrow plant in Kitchener, Ontario closed in 2000. According to a web site company history, Arrow stopped making detached collars in 1935. |
