Description : A magic lantern with a square metal body that sits on four cylindrical feet. The lantern has a black lacquer finish. Three sides of the lantern body are decorated with a punched star and circle design. A lens tube protrudes from the front of the lantern (the lens is missing). Behind this tube is a slot for the glass slides to fit through. There is a decorative lip around the top of the lantern with an open design. A cylindrical chimney protrudes from the top of the lantern with a triangular cap over it with a looped handle at the top. The cap is rippled. There is a hinged door on the back side of the lantern with a small looped handle on the left edge. "BENY PIKE JR. 234 BROADWAY, N.Y." is printed in gold marker across the front of the lanter, above the lens tube. "BENY PIKE JR." is also printed on the door on the back side of the lantern.
