Description : | A composition doll with socket head on a composition torso. The upper half of the legs and arms are cloth; the lower half is composition. The centre part of the torso is in sections and has springs - moves inward when squeezed (may have once produced a sound), allows the doll to bend and swivel at the waist. It has black, human hair with a top bun and bangs. The bun has a red shibori scarf worked into it. It has painted black eyes and red bow mouth. She is wearing a paper dress marked with Japanese calligraphy under a bright fuschia pink china silk kimono. The kimono has white bands at the sleeve and skirt hems which are stuffed. There is an insert of pale turquoise silk at the neckline. There is a light olive green silk obi tied on with the magenta silk. The kimono is handsewn. Length: 49 cm, Width: 19 cm ORIGINAL |
