A applique border, which consists of a green, vine-like design, surrounds the diamond-patterned centre. Tiny rosettes made from the red wool fabric and red and green yarns, are placed at the corners of each diamond. The backing is made from light brown cotton fabric. The quilt binding is of light green silk. The quilting is worked around the border only in rows of doubled half circles, intersecting lines, flowers and vines. It is very fine stitching (8 stitches to the inch) worked in brown thread.
