Description : | Crib or manger with three sets of double mirred pedestal-panels (upper and lower sections) at either side of entrance. Round pillars with mirrored pedestals flank the entrance. Ornately carved arch joins the pillars. Bull and donkey (left and right facing, respectively) face the side/rear of the manger and stand in the front half of the interior room. Floor in this section is sprinkled with saw-dust. Rear half of the interior room is elevated one step and is fronted by two pairs of square gold columns joined by a semi-circular arch. Infant Christ child is lying on its back atop an oval-shaped gold disc from which radiates gold rays. Joseph is seated with folded hands to right (front-facing) of Christ child, wearing a grey cape, blue robe and crowned with a gold halo (a circular disk from which radiates gold rays). Mother of Christ is disproportionately larger than other figures, and is in a kneeling, prayerful attitude, wearing a yellow gown and crowned like Joseph with a gold halo. Star-shaped window with six points and red glass in rear of crib. Exterior is painted a dull gray-brown. Length: 53 cm, Width: 55 cm, Height: 51 cm ORIGINAL |
