Description : | This quilt is more like a comforter. Patches are backed with white cotton, sewn together by machine through all layers, then embroidered over thick filling. One Flag is backwards and upside down, possibly the Turkish flag. One Scottish Flag is larger from a different set of patches. Backing is pieced in one corner. Plain orange cotton sateen. Pieced Flags are flannel material. Made in 1914." 105 pre-printed blocks depicting the "Flags of All Nations," (one of which is backwards and upside down), are sewn onto white cotton. Edged with embroidery and bound to match its sateen backing, this handsome comforter expressed an international and optimistic outlook as well as the availability of commercial flag blocks, many of which are repeated and one of which - the Scottish - is from a different set than the others."
