DERBY/ 60". According to original catalogue records, the spool holds 'thread for Carrickmacross Lace'. According to a card with the spools, the thread is used for making 'Carrickmacross Lace' which is 'a needlepoint lace made in Carrickmacross, a market town of County Monaghan, Ireland. Carrickmacross lace is of two kinds. One has a delicate design which is appliqued on net.
