Description : | This twist bit has a "double twist" body in the Scotch pattern. The nose (or cutting edge) is flat with a side wing, but no spurs. On the end, the lead (or point) is double threaded. The bit has a square upper portion (tang) which tapers slightly at the end. On one of the squared sides is "8" impressed into the metal. According to R.A. Salaman, the double twist is "made from a flat steel bar which is made hot and then twisted" and the screw lead causes the tool to pull itself to some extent through the hole, and thus the amount of pressure require is reduced. Length: 33cm; Width: 4.8cm |
